You can add individual or multiple students. Please select from below your preferred option for the specific guide.


Adding individual students

  1. Click on your name in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Select Manage students from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Add Students.
  4. Fill in the mandatory first name and last name fields.
  5. You can either choose a username and password for the student, or ask Oxford Owl to create one for you by clicking Generate. If you are creating your own usernames and passwords, please note:
    • Usernames must consist of a minimum of 4 characters and should only contain letters, numbers, dots, or underscores. Other special characters are not accepted and usernames cannot start with, or consist solely of, the allowable special characters.
    • Passwords must consist of at least 5 characters, but special characters, numbers and letters are all accepted.
  6. You can fill in parent email field which enables parents and carers to request a password reminder. Please note: it is not obligatory add parent email addresses.
  7. Select the student’s year group from the drop-down menu and click Add student.
  8. Click Download Sign In card to download the student’s login details.
  9. Click Done to confirm the addition of this student.
  10. Your student will now be visible in the Students tab. You may need to refresh your browser.
  11. You can now add your student to a class.

Adding multiple students

Top tip: We recommend that you upload classes individually, as this will make it easier for you to download and distribute Sign In cards.

  1. Click on your name in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Select Manage students from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Add Students.
  4. Click Import students.
  5. If this is your first time importing students using this method you can select Download template to download our easy to use .CSV template. Please note: You must not alter the headers provided in the template in any way.
  6. Import your completed .CSV document either by dragging it to the box labelled Drop CSV file here or selecting Choose from your computer and locating the file.
  7. Click Next.
  8. You can now review and edit your list of imported users and click Next.
  9. Confirm the classes your imported users are being added to and click Import users.
  10. Click Done.
